A few weeks ago I got a complaint. A few days ago, I got the same complaint but from a different source. The complain being that my blog no longer captivates them the same way it did before. I know. It was done on purpose. This blog may not captivate you in the same way because it's no longer written the same way. My life is no longer the dominant post. This is because of several factors. This first and foremost being that if my life were still the dominant post, trust me, it'd be even less interesting then it is right now.
I've found my life no longer holds the same ambition. I was a lot of talk back then. Between the long nights of partying that went into 7AM the next morning, trying to stay awake in class, and trying to stay productive/hide my hangover at work, there was no time for anything else. First off, my body can't handle weekends the way it use to. I now limit myself to one night out a month, even if that. I still love my dinners and nights in with a bottle of wine or two, but the night club scene I choose to ignore for the most part. I live in Calgary. That should be the end of this conversation.
I've found that with proper balance between the people you surround yourself with, the places you see, the things you eat, the activities you choose to indulge in, life can be amazing. I love being young, irresponsible, and living like there's no tomorrow. But I've also started to plan like I'm going to live forever.
I've finally buckled down in school, gotten to a good place in my career, made amazing friends and met the best people along the way. 2010 was truly an eye opening year for me. I met people who FORCED me to be a better me. Made me re-evaluate my life in a way that no one has ever challenged me to. It was a year of travel, a year of self discovery and year of creativity. I met someone who amazes me and makes me want to be a better, stronger, smarter person, you have no doubt changed my views on life, made me believe in butterflies again and your nothing short of a blessing. The crazy-rocky-sporadic start and the even crazier-rockier-who knows what now end will all make sense soon I'm sure. I met another someone who's creativity surpasses anything I've ever seen, I know you'll be amazing in whatever it is you choose to pursue. I met someone else who's ambition and drive outshine anyone else's I've come across, congrats on everything! You bring a slice of wonderful to my everyday life & I met someone who has the heart of absolute solid gold, I hope you have an amazing time in your world travels this year.
I saw friends go through experiences I would never wish upon my worst enemy. I went through things that made me feel little, unworthy and for the lack of a better word, shitty. I stood up for myself in situations that only God knew the truth to. I put myself in compromising situations that left me helpless and weak. I wish that life didn't work that way, but sometimes you can't help it, it had to happen for us to be brought back down to reality. I bid farewell to those who moved onto bigger better things. I saw friends take on new challenges. I am so fortunate.
I've learned that the past is the past for a reason, I would not be here knowing what I know, being who I am without it. For that I'm grateful, but because of it, I've also learned! And because of that, it'll stay in the past. I've said hello and goodbye to some of the best people I've ever met and will ever meet. Relationships broke, and others blossomed. Some I grew out of, and others grew out of me.
I've spent the first few months of 2011 really challenging myself. Stylistically, scholastically, in my career, creatively, financially. I've set goals that I am determined to meet. That's what I've been doing lately, if you were wondering. So I decided to dedicate this year to resolutions. A list that is so long, and filled with small embarrassing feats that I won't share. But let's just say, a lot of them in the first 4 months of 2011 have already been met. So here's me and one of those amazing people I met in 2010 being fun and stupid. Light it up!
