ALEXANDER WANG S2010 RTW

"We want to create clothes that are timeless and classic"

"Our girl wants investment pieces"

I don't know if I would call this collection, timeless and classic. I felt it was more, street trends meets the sporting world. As I was going through the collection I kept anticipating that ONE look that would pull the whole collection together for me, and then I hit the end of the show. I thought maybe I had just missed it, so I took a second look, and sat there even more confused as I took a second glance at these looks...

I'm still trying to figure out whether or not those skirts were jackets styled as skirts, or if they're actual skirts? Maybe I'm baffled because I've become so accustomed to Alexander Wang being so simplistic all the time. He definitely has turned some heads and raised a few brows with this collection, and I see why. Maybe his vision just didn't get to me this time. I do see bits and pieces that resemble his resort 2010 collection, this seems to be an exaggerated extension of that season. Now don't get me wrong, I did see a few pieces that I wouldn't hesitate to invest in & I know it was all over the runways this season, but I don't think you'll find me strutting the streets of Calgary in open toed footwear with socks anytime soon.
